Room to gather, space to unwind

Northwest-facing lake views and sunsets from the living room, the primary bedroom and both decks. A gradual walk-in shoreline off the lawn — gradual entry over a rocky lake bottom, so bring water shoes.

The main floor is one open room — kitchen, dining and living room together around an indoor fireplace, with the lake through the windows on one side and walkouts to the upper deck, where the BBQ, outdoor stove and propane fire pit are. It’s designed for a group to cook, eat and hang out in the same space.

The three bedrooms sleep six: a queen, a double, and a single-over-double bunk. Two pullout couches in the living areas and an air mattress bring the maximum to ten. Inside there’s one full bathroom and a powder room. There’s also a fully functional outdoor shower looking over the water — open from spring through fall, closed over the winter months.

Downstairs, the rec room has a pool table, ping-pong, a dartboard, karaoke and a smart TV. The sunroom is the quiet end of the house — windows on three sides give a panoramic view down the lake, with a reading library and a shelf of board games. Along the shoreline: the fire pit, a hammock swing, and a dock with two kayaks, a paddleboard, a canoe, a pedal boat and a big floating water mat.

Meet Jacob

Hi — I’m Jacob, and this is my family’s cottage on Upper Buckhorn Lake. It’s where we come to slow down, spend time together, and enjoy being by the water — and sharing it with guests has become one of my favourite parts of owning it.

When I’m not at the cottage, you’ll usually find me cycling far more kilometres than is probably sensible, exploring somewhere new, or looking for a great coffee. I’m also a bit of a watch enthusiast and will happily go out of my way to try a new restaurant or cuisine. Some of my favourite trips have involved portaging through Algonquin and eating my way across Greece, Italy, and Spain — but the place I keep coming back to is the dock here at sunset.

I try to host the cottage the same way I’d want a place hosted for my own family: clean, comfortable, well stocked, and with no surprises. I’m always happy to answer questions, share local recommendations, or help with anything before or during your stay. When you reach out, you’ll be talking directly with me.
